Overview

The VP Director of Credit Policy must believe in, practice, and initiate all Green Brick Partners values set forth in an acronym we call HOME. They must be Honest, Objective, Mature and Efficient in how they approach their role at Green Brick Partners.

 

The VP Director of Credit is responsible for oversight of the company’s mortgage credit and production underwriting verticals.  The incumbent will architect and maintain the company’s credit policies and procedures, manage the third-party investor credit change management process, and provide credit advisory support to Underwriters and Loan Officers when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Management responsibility for a department or multiple departments within the company’s Credit Organization.
  • Provide senior level credit guidance for the evaluation and structuring of mortgage loans and coordinating the credit approval process in conjunction with Loan Officers and Credit Executives.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and support credit related positions to senior business partners and senior credit risk management, alongside external stakeholders including investors and regulators.
  • Ensure compliance of the company’s established credit policy & lending guidelines in daily operation.
  • Support the sales teams through credit advisory and product collateral creation.
  • Complete credit related projects and analysis as needed.

Supervision of Others:  Production Underwriting Staff

 

Authority/Budget/Decision Making/Discretion and Independent Judgment Ability: 

Utilizes discretion, judgment, and high-level analytical skills to interpret complex situations.

 

Physical Requirements:  Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

Qualifications

Education:

  • BS degree in a business-related field (i.e. Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Business).

Competencies:

  • Strong practitioner knowledge with GSE and Government mortgage loan products and lending guidelines.
  • Experience working with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, GNMA, and other private investors.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to operate under demanding deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and work on several transactions simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate in a matrix environment, working across departments to achieve both company and department goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risk.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Creative problem-solver with strong research skills.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive work experience in the Mortgage Banking industry which includes duties such as market analysis, reviewing financial statements, and underwriting loan transactions.
