Overview

Position Purpose: The Staff Accountant must believe in, practice and initiate all Green Brick
Partners values set forth in an acronym we call HOME. They must be Honest, Objective, Mature
and Efficient in how he or she approaches their role at Green Brick Partners.


The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing timely and accurate accounting records,
including various journal entries and financial and operational reports. This position is also
directly involved in the month end close process and the preparation of monthly financial
statement reporting.

Responsibilities

Prepare depreciation and amortization schedules
Prepare monthly production and financial reports (including but not limited to
Balance Sheets and Income Statements)
Prepare journal entries of both a recurring and non-recurring nature
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
Prepares monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Codes and process corporate credit cards
Serve as the lead on cash transactions including preparing outgoing wires, ACH
payments, and bank deposits
Serve as a primary participant and assistant in the monthly close process
Review accounts payable and receivable to include performing any necessary data
corrections
Work with Accounts Payable team to review daily batches and ensure proper
account coding and approval for capitalized and operating expenses
Code invoices and ensure invoices are properly approved
Reconcile vendor statements monthly
Assist Accounting Leadership with projects as needed
Assist with weekly lot take down reporting, coordinating with the Director of
Accounting Operations and the Vice President of Accounting to ensure
compliance with contractual terms of land contracts and ensure we are taking
down the right lots to hit our starts targets each week and month as needed
Process and record weekly lot take down purchases as needed
Train and mentor junior accounting staff
Review journal entries of junior or peer accounting staff for accuracy and
compliance with corporate accounting policies
Assist with audit

Qualifications

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day;
sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel
terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to
lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job include close
vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

 

Education:
High School Diploma
Accounting degree preferred


Experience:
3 years of accounting experience
Computer skills
Microsoft Excel

Critical thinking skills
Good written and oral communication skills
Good organizational skills
