Overview

Green Brick Mortgage is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Operations Manager to lead and support mortgage fulfillment teams in a fast-paced, growth-driven environment. This role partners closely with the Vice President of Credit and senior leadership to execute operational strategies, drive performance improvements, and maintain regulatory compliance.

 

This position serves as a key operational leader responsible for managing day-to-day mortgage fulfillment operations while supporting the company’s growth as a captive mortgage provider for builder partners. The Operations Manager ensures efficiency, quality, compliance, and service excellence across business-to-business and business-to-consumer channels.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior leadership in executing the operational vision and objectives for the Mortgage Operations Department.
  • Manage the daily workflow and performance of mortgage fulfillment teams, including Processing, Underwriting, and Closing functions as assigned.
  • Establish and monitor goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for operational staff to promote accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and retain high-performing mortgage operations staff.
  • Provide hands-on coaching, performance feedback, and professional development to team members.
  • Promote cross-functional knowledge and collaboration across mortgage operations teams.
  • Maintain and manage third-party vendor relationships to ensure service-level expectations are met.
  • Monitor operational metrics and contribute to dashboard reporting and performance scorecards.
  • Identify process gaps and inefficiencies; collaborate with leadership to implement improvements and document procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all investor guidelines, federal regulations, and applicable state laws throughout the loan fulfillment process.
  • Serve as a role model by promoting a strong culture of quality, compliance, and customer service for borrowers and builder partners.
  • Assist with audits, exams, and internal reviews as needed.

Supervision of Others:  Mortgage Fulfillment Staff

 

Authority/Budget/Decision Making/Discretion and Independent Judgment Ability: 

Utilizes discretion, judgment, and high-level analytical skills to interpret complex situations.

 

Physical Requirements:  Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

 

Location: Hybrid - Plano Corporate Office

Qualifications

Education:

  • BS degree in a business-related field (i.e. Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Business or similar) preferred.

Competencies:

  • Experience managing teams in a performance-driven and regulated environment
  • Strong working knowledge of mortgage fulfillment operations and workflows
  • Practitioner-level knowledge of GSE and Government loan products
  • Thorough understanding of mortgage regulations, compliance, and investor guidelines
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across departments
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to work independently or collaboratively

Experience:

  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in the mortgage banking industry
  • Minimum of 3–5 years managing mortgage fulfillment or operations teams
  • Experience in a captive lending or direct-to-consumer environment preferred
